ISLAM IS THE RIGHT RELIGION

Tafsir Ibnu Katsir

 

Allah ﷻ said :

إِنَّ الدِّينَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ الْإِسْلامُ

Indeed, the religion with Allah is Islam (Ali 'Imran [3]: 19)

إخبار منه تعالى بأنه لا دين عنده يقبله من أحد سوى الإسلام، وهو اتباع الرسل فيما بعثهم الله به في كل حين حتى ختموا بمحمد ﷺ الذي سد جميع الطرق إليه إلا من جهة محمد ﷺ، فمن لقي الله بعد بعثة محمد ﷺ بدين على غير شريعته فليس بمتقبل، كما قال تعالى: ﴿وَمَنْ يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ الْإِسْلامِ دِيناً فَلَنْ يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ﴾ وقال في هذه الآية مخبرا بانحصار الدين المتقبل عنده في الإسلام ﴿إِنَّ الدِّينَ عِنْدَ اللهِ الْإِسْلامُ﴾.

As news from Allah Subhanahu wata’la, which states that no religion is accepted from 
anyone in His sight other than Islam, namely following the messengers sent by Allah 
Subhanahu wata’la in every era, until ending with the Prophet Muhammad SAW, who 
brought a religion that closed off all other paths except the path he had taken. 
Therefore, whoever faces Allah - after the Prophet  Muhammad SAW. sent—by 
bringing a religion that is not the Shari'a, then it is not accepted by Allah. As 
mentioned in other scriptures, namely

وَمَنْ يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ الإسْلامِ دِينًا فَلَنْ يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ فِي الآخِرَةِ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the 
Hereafter he will be among the losers. Ali ‘Imrân/3:85] 

In this verse, Allah states that the religion accepted by Allah is limited to Islam, 
namely: Indeed, the religion (that is accepted) by Allah is only Islam.

(Ali Imran: 19)

 

Allah ﷻ said :

اَفَغَيْرَ دِيْنِ اللّٰهِ يَبْغُوْنَ وَلَهٗ ٓ اَسْلَمَ مَنْ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ طَوْعًا وَّكَرْهًا وَّاِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُوْنَ 

So why do they look for other religions besides the religion of Allah, when everything 
in the heavens and on earth surrenders to Him, (whether) willingly or unwillingly and 
only to Him will they be returned? [Ali ‘Imrân/3:83]

يقول تعالى منكرا على من أراد دينا سوى دين الله الذي أنزل به كتبه، وأرسل به رسله، وهو عبادة الله وحده لا شريك له، الذي ﴿لَهُ أَسْلَمَ مَنْ فِي السَّماواتِ وَالْأَرْضِ﴾ أي استسلم له من فيهما طوعا وكرها، كما قال تعالى: ﴿وَلِلّهِ يَسْجُدُ مَنْ فِي السَّماواتِ وَالْأَرْضِ طَوْعاً وَكَرْهاً﴾

God Almighty says, rebuking those who desire a religion other than the religion of God, 
with which He revealed His books, And He sent His messengers with it. It is the 
worship of God alone, without any partners. To Him submits whoever is in the heavens 
and the earth. That is, both of them surrendered to him willingly or unwillingly. As God 
Almighty said: “And to God prostrates whoever is in the heavens and the earth, 
willingly or unwillingly.” (Ar-Ra'd: 15)

وقال تعالى: ﴿أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلى ما خَلَقَ اللهُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ يَتَفَيَّؤُا ظِلالُهُ عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَالشَّمائِلِ سُجَّداً لِلّهِ وَهُمْ داخِرُونَ* وَلِلّهِ يَسْجُدُ ما فِي السَّماواتِ وَما فِي الْأَرْضِ مِنْ دابَّةٍ وَالْمَلائِكَةُ وَهُمْ لا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ* يَخافُونَ رَبَّهُمْ مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ ما يُؤْمَرُونَ﴾ 

"Have they not considered what things Allah has created? Their shadows incline to the right and to the left, prostrating to Allah, while they are humble"

"And to Allah prostrates whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth of creatures, and the angels [as well], and they are not arrogant"
"They fear their Lord above them, and they do what they are commanded"

(An-Nahl: 48-50)

 

فالمؤمن مستسلم بقلبه وقالبه لله، والكافر مستسلم لله كرها، فإنه تحت التسخير والقهر والسلطان العظيم الذي لا يخالف ولا يمانع

The believer submits to God wholeheartedly, while the disbeliever submits to God unwillingly. He is under the control, subjugation, and supreme authority of the Almighty, who neither opposes nor resists.
